WOODTURNING TIPS -
Strapping Tape

Whenever I turn a piece that has obvious cracks or weaknesses in it I wrap it with strapping tape. Sometimes I'll shape a section of the outside, tape it, and then shape the rest.
But usually, I can shape all of the outside, tape it, and then hollow the inside.

This may not keep it from breaking, but it might keep it from exploding.
